Product Description
Canned Food Production Line for Mushroom, One Line Many Cans | LWT
Introduction

Most canned food factories begin with one building, one boiler, and one sterilization department, then expand as orders arrive. Purchasing separate machinery for each new product is costly. This platform offers an alternative: a canned food production line with modules selected once and reconfigured per product, enabling mushroom, vegetable, and bean production cycles to run on the same initial investment.

This complete canning production line covers raw material washing and blanching, empty can preparation, solid canning, hot liquid dosing, vacuum seaming, sterilization, labeling, coding, and plant utilities. Recently engineered for mushroom processing—handling 500 kg per hour of fresh mushrooms into 400 g and 3 kg tinplate cans—it serves as an excellent reference due to mushroom's demanding nature: soft, wet, and easily damaged.

While canned vegetable and mushroom lines are often quoted as separate projects, most equipment overlaps. Can washing, canning platforms, seaming stations, sterilizers, labeling units, and utility blocks are format-agnostic. Only the pre-treatment section and liquid recipes change. Treating shared modules as one platform transforms single-product projects into versatile multi-product canning lines.

Why One Line Instead of Several

The economic advantages become clear when dividing machinery into two categories:

  • Modules that never change: Can washing, canning, broth/syrup dosing, vacuum seaming, sterilization, and finishing are defined by can format, not recipe. These are specified once and remain in service across all products.
  • Modules that change per product: Washing, blanching, cooling, and cutting depend on raw materials. Mushroom requires gentle bubble washing and precise blanching; beans need different cuts; fruits may skip blanching entirely. These modules are engineered for easy reconfiguration.

This approach also eliminates three hidden costs often noticed only after adding a second product: duplicate sterilization departments, utility sets, and operator training for different machinery.

What Stays, What Changes
Product Family Typical Can Format Shared, Unchanged Modules Modules Re-set for This Product
Canned mushroom (button, straw, whole or sliced) 400 g, 3 kg tinplate Can washing, canning platform, broth dosing, sealing, sterilization, labeling, utilities Bubble washing, steam blanching, cooling, slicing
Canned vegetable (sweet corn, green beans, mixed vegetables, bamboo shoot) 400 g, 3 kg tinplate Can washing, canning platform, broth dosing, sealing, sterilization, labeling, utilities Blancher timing, cutting head
Canned bean and pulse (baked beans, kidney beans, chickpeas) 400 g tinplate Can washing, canning platform, sauce dosing, sealing, sterilization, labeling, utilities Sauce recipe and dosing volume, no slicer
Canned fruit in syrup (peach, pineapple, fruit cocktail) 400 g, 3 kg tinplate Can washing, canning platform, syrup dosing, sealing, sterilization, labeling, utilities Syrup preparation, no blancher

The right column represents the only portion requiring re-engineering for new products—designed for reconfiguration rather than complete rebuilding.

The Shared Core, Module by Module
Empty Can Preparation

Every product starts with the same can washing machine featuring heating and automatic temperature control. It handles both 3 kg 15173 and 400 g 7113 cans, eliminating the need for multiple washers in dual-format operations.

Solid Canning

The manual canning platform features a two-lane conveyor with packing tables on each side—empty cans in one direction, filled cans in the other. Manual canning ensures delicate products like mushrooms, cut vegetables, peach halves, and beans are placed without damage, offering significant cost savings over change-part sets for each product shape.

Hot Liquid Dosing

Broth, brine, sauce, and syrup all flow through the same dosing circuit, fed by an insulated circulating buffer tank. Two steam-heated 300 L stirring tanks with transfer pumps and piping handle recipe preparation, with all liquid-contact surfaces made from #316 stainless steel.

Sealing and Sterilization

The vacuum seaming station and two-station sterilizer are critical for shelf stability. Both seaming vacuum and sterilizer programs (heating, holding, and pressure) are product-specific, allowing mushroom and bean recipes to coexist on the same equipment without confusion.

Conveying and Finishing

Product transfers between sections via food-grade conveyor belts and chain systems at 850 ± 50 mm working height. The labeling and coding station ensures multiple products can exit the same line without pallet mixing.

Extended Products This Line Adapts To

Beyond mushrooms, this platform adapts to four product groups, each with pre-configured preparation logic:

Canned mushroom, vegetable, bean and fruit products adapted to one canning line

The same core modules also serve canned meat, seafood, and wet pet food lines, treating the canning core as a product family rather than one-off design. If future products are planned, mention them during quotation—pre-arranging shared modules is far more cost-effective than adding separate lines later.

Project Delivery and Support

Supplied as one comprehensive scope, projects include layout drawings, utility schedules, factory testing, installation/commissioning packages, operator training, wear-parts lists, and bilingual PLC interfaces.

When adding subsequent products, support includes re-configuration notes rather than new machine lists—specifying which modules remain, which parameters change, and which recipe settings require re-validation before commercial batches.

This is our second line from the same supplier, installed in May and running perfectly since. The first one has been in production for two years without major issues. Setup took four days with their engineer. Output is steady and cleaning is quick. Support answers fast. Very satisfied with both lines.

Our mushroom canning line has been running well since January. The staff learned to operate it in three days using the operation videos. Sterilization and sealing are consistent, and the reject rate is low. When we had a question, a video call solved it the same day. Good machine and good support.

Second mushroom canning line we bought — the first one has run two seasons without problems, so we expanded. Delivery took about two and a half months from order. Their engineer set it up with our team in five days. Output matches our plan and cleaning is simple. Support is responsive whenever we call. Very reliable supplier.
